Financial Aid:

Tara Redwood School values a diverse economic community. We understand that the tuition can be difficult for some families. Through donations, and fundraising we are able to support a certain number of families with financial aide. Financial aide is based on a family’s economic needs, which are assessed through independent organization, Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST).

Financial Aid FAQS

  • Financial Aid is available to elementary school families who are economically burdened.

Financial aide is need based and all students’ families who receive aid must complete the FAST application. Please click here for the application.

Allowances are made for families with more than one student attending the school and have a greater financial need and burden.

  • Fast Applications are Due at the same time registration is due
  • Families have 10 business days to accept or reject the offer
  • The FAST application fee is $43.00 and is non-refundable and payable online with application
  • Details on tax information needed to apply can be found at the FAST website
  • Please check the box on your enrollment form indicating that you will be applying for financial aid

It is important that you complete the online forms and apply for financial aide by April 14, 2017 in order to receive priority consideration as a returning family. After that date the financial aide team reviews and awards aide to new students.

Tuition Insurance – Tuition Refund Program

The tuition refund plan is important to you and to Tara Redwood School. Tara Redwood School requires full payment for all fees for the year in which you are attending. These fees are due and payable in order for your child(ren) to remain in the school. The overhead expenses of the school do not diminish if a student departs during the course of the year. Deductions or remission of tuition cost will not be allowed by the school for absence, dismissal, or withdrawal for disciplinary, academic, or personal reasons. Your financial obligation to the school is for the full annual tuition as stated in the School’s enrollment contract. We are pleased to extend a Tuition Refund Plan to you in order to protect your yearly financial obligation. This program insures fees – (prepaid and due) in the event of separation according to the terms of the policy.

A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. offers this plan for Tara Redwood School. The cost of this plan is 3.3% of your annual tuition fee for the 2017/18 school year. Families who do not pay the total annual tuition fees by August 31, 2017 must participate in the Tuition Refund Plan.

  • Participation is mandatory unless tuition is paid in full at the beginning of the year. Payment for the insurance plan is due in full at the beginning of the year.

Additional Family Financial Expectations

Tara Redwood School tuition is offered at approximately 85-90% of what it actually costs to run the school and educate our students. The tuition is established at this rate in order to make a Tara education financially possible for a greater number of families

It is imperative that each family helps to make up that gap in costs through participating in school fundraising drives held each year.

If you are able to participate financially in only one school fundraiser this next year, please make our Annual Giving Campaign the one you support.

We offer multiple fundraising drives that are fun and engaging to participate in and we expect 100% participation in one or more of these endeavors in order to keep our tuition reasonable and our school operations and offerings possible.

In the event that your family is not able to fulfill the parent participation requirement, paying a fee of $50 per hour can compensate for hours not volunteered. If your family cannot fulfill any hours, a buyout option will be considered for the entire 30-hour requirement, and a $200 buyout fee will be assessed in addition to the hourly offset of $50 per hour.

Participate / Attend the following events:

  • Back to School Night (start of the school year)
  • Beach Gathering (Early Fall)
  • Parent training (offered in the fall 6- 8 week class)
  • Harvest Festival (Late October)
  • Winter Concert
  • School Auction
  • Parent conférences:
    • 1 conference per year for Preschool Families – 2 for Elementary Families
  • Spring Picnic (Spring)
  • Hike for Peace
  • Classroom Play Performances

Tara Redwood School Fundraising  Overview

During the summer months Tara runs a summer camp in addition to the year round preschool classes to offer our unique curriculum to the greater public and to lesson the overhead deficit we incur during the summer months.

2016/17 paid off our $22k school bus which we use daily for – transportation to and from school for students, – as well as daily rides to playgrounds and of course field trips too.

We were able with your support to offer families over $70,000 in financial aid and scholarships for the elementary students for the year.

We grossed $40k at our Annual Auction Fundraiser, $6,000 of that money went directly into our scholarship fund.

The Cayton Foundation – Donated $20,000 to the school

We raised $1,500 during our annual Toyota fundraiser

Tara Redwood School Compassion in Action

The total raised from our Compassion Card fundraiser equaled $1,650.

Funds from this fundraiser go to Compassion in action projects at the elementary level, and to classroom supplies at the Preschool level.

Our Hot lunch program raised $1,600. These funds were used for our compassion in action programs. The children decided to send the funds to the following organizations:

  • Jane Goodall Institute,
  • Pregnant Mare Rescue
  • Jacobs Heart.
  • Friends of the Rainforest
  • Save our Shores
  • The SPCA
  • Elephant Sanctuary

Why is Fundraising for Tara Redwood School important? We pay tuition…

Tara Redwood School is a Non-Profit School. Our largest revenue source to run Tara Redwood School comes from tuition and fees, which typically cover 85 -90% of our operating costs.

Our Annual Auction, Drive for Schools, Annual Giving Program and Hike for Peace are some of the fundraisers we do to help make up the 10-15% gap to balance our operating budget. By participating in these events you are contributing to the true cost of the school with tax-deductible contributions.

We receive support from a network of Alumni Families, friends and grandparents that value the school, as well as ask our current parents, guardians, employees and students to contribute to the fundraising efforts.

New Family and Sibling Incentive Program:

We like to reward our current families who are able to refer new students who enroll. A referring family will receive a one-time credit to their account if:

  1. New Family Referral – A referral credit amount of $1000.00 will be offered to a current family for each new family they refer who enrolls one or more students for a full year.
  1. New Sibling enrollment – A sibling enrollment credit of $500.00 for each new sibling within a current family who enrolls for the first time for a full year.
  1. Partial year referral – A partial referral credit prorated will be offered to a current family for each new family they refer who enrolls one or more students for a full year.
