Dear Tara Redwood School Community

“The root of joy is gratefulness…It is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful.”

~Brother Steindl Rast

What a wonderful season of colors, sun and clouds with the occasional rain to bless the earth and feed the plants. Thank you to Cristiana for continuing Life Lab with all the classes! Notice how those spouts are flourishing with all the care and attention they are receiving! We are grateful to Hansens Feed Store in Corralitos for their donation of hay bales for the Farm and thankful to OSH for their donation of hoses and parts for watering our plants.

We all enjoyed a rich day of celebrating harvest on Tuesday 31st!  The Heartwood and Mandala classes visited Heart Farm and the Kindergarten and Elementary classes visited Art Farm!  Thank you to alumni parents, Cyndi Rothmeier and Lisa Smith for hosting our Art Farm event and to Samantha, Lakota’s mom, for hosting the Heart Farm event! Both groups enjoyed themselves and it was wonderful that some of our parents could also attend the Pot Lucks.

So the school year is moving fast and your children are all growing and developing fast as well!  We are witnessing a lot of interest in learning and developing various skills and knowledge.

There are a lot of dates to remember this month!

Your half hour of care will be $10 and we request you place the cash payment in the envelope when you sign up. Thank you!

The bus will pick up as usual in the morning on the minimum day and drop off in the afternoon beginning at noon with pickups at the Redwood Campus at 11:45 and dropping off at:

More bus news: We see how grateful the Redwood Campus families are to be catching the bus, so we will continue the service to and from the Redwood Campus until the Holiday break in December.  At that time we will make our next assessment as to whether we continue into the New Year.  Please sign up to keep this service running!

More Good News: Marianne’s Ice Cream shop at State Park bus stop has offered for the children to wait inside if it is cold or rainy! Thank you so much for the kindness in our community!

The music program in the Village is sounding sweeter and sweeter! Our music teacher, Matt Cleaver, is working on the arrangements of chosen songs with intermittent instrumental notes from our students. We look forward to a musical potpourri when all the classes from the youngest to the oldest come together to celebrate kindness with a song at the Winter Concert scheduled for Friday December 15th   5:30 – 6:30. Venue TBD We are grateful to Matt and Craig’s List for their donation of $4,500 for our music program!

Speaking of kindness, Thanksgiving is a special time to celebrate love, gratitude and family values.  Some of the classes will be baking for the Homeless Shelter and communities in need. Your children’s classes will share more information on their activities.

Wednesday 22nd, Thursday 23rd & Friday 24th  – Thanksgiving – No School

The classes have been working hard on their Compassion Cards. These cards are precious as each child shares a little of their wisdom and their quote is printed on their beautifully illustrated cards. These cards will be displayed at your child’s classroom starting next week. We are requesting parents to please place your orders asap so the cards can be printed and available for you for the holidays.  They also make wonderful gifts and all proceeds go to support their classroom’s Compassion in Action Program.

You’ll have the opportunity to view them when you come to conference on Monday and Tuesday! Please sign up for your Conference NOW!

Much Gratitude!

Pam
